Arts, Culture & Fun: Juneteenth Concert with Tulivu's Seasoned Elegance (Brooklyn, NY)

Join for an outdoor jazz concert celebrating Juneteenth with Tulivu's Seasoned Elegance.

The unique vocal stylist Tulivu Donna Cumberbatch grew up in the Brooklyn jazz scene, the daughter of baritone saxophonist Harold Cumberbatch. A formidable bandleader and a renowned featured vocalist in settings from the Brooklyn Philharmonic and the Kronos Quartet to the groups of John Hicks and Andy Bey, she has, in the words of the late, great Randy Weston, “. . . beautiful phrasing and the spirit of our ancestors in her sound past present and future.” With Rod Williams, piano; Rachiim Ausar-Sahu, bass; Mark Johnson, drums.

Presented in partnership with the Jazz Foundation of America, with partial support from the National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, and from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council.
